Windstream is committed to your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes the types of information we collect from and about you, either as a visitor to Windstream's websites, www.Windstream.com, https://my.Windstream.net, or http://dealer.Windstream.net (each a “Site”), or when you order Windstream services. This Privacy Policy also explains how Windstream may use and disclose such information, as well as your ability to control certain uses of it.
INFORMATION COLLECTION
Personal Information
- Windstream collects personal information from you only when you: (1) order services from us; or (2) request information from us or otherwise contact us. The personal information we collect may include your name, address, telephone number, email address, company name, and, if you are a Windstream customer, credit card number.
- We, or a third party service provider acting on our behalf (“Service Provider”), may periodically conduct customer surveys. If you agree to participate in a survey, your personal information and responses will remain confidential, even if the survey is conducted by a Service Provider. We use the survey responses to help improve the quality of our services to you, as well as to develop new services and products. We may also share this survey information in an aggregated, non-personally identifiable form with third parties.
- "Customer Proprietary Network Information," or "CPNI" is personally identifiable information indicating to whom, where, and when a customer places a call, as well as the types of service offerings to which a customer subscribes and how much any particular service is used. We collect CPNI through the ordinary course of our customer-carrier relationship with you.
- As part of the standard operation of the Site, we or our Service Providers may collect certain non-personal information from you, including but not limited to your browser type, operating system, Internet Protocol (“IP”) address and the domain name from which you accessed the Site. In addition, we or our Service Providers may collect information about your browsing behavior, such as the date and time you visit the Site, the areas or pages of the Site that you visit, the amount of time you spend viewing the Site, the number of times you return to the Site, and other click-stream or site usage data.
- Windstream may share aggregate, non-personal information with third parties.
- We, or our Service Providers, may use cookies or web beacons to collect the non-personal information described above. A cookie is a small data file that is placed on your hard drive when you access the Site. A web beacon is a a small graphic image embedded in a webpage or email. We or our Service Providers or business partners may also use cookies or web beacons to: (1) monitor Site usage; (2) conduct research to improve our Site content, products and services; (3) manage our telecommunications networks; (4) deliver customized Site content; and (5) provide marketing message for Windstream’s services that may be of interest to you.
- You are free to decline cookies, but by doing so, you may not be able to use certain features on the Site or take full advantage of all of our offerings. Check the “Help” menu of your browser to learn how to change your cookie preferences.
- Subject to any legal restrictions on our use of CPNI and your instructions to us, Windstream or its Service Providers may use the information we collect from and about you for any of the following purposes: (1) to fulfill orders, provide service and communicate with customers; (2) to develop new products or services; (3) to respond to your inquiries; (4) to provide you with targeted offers and advertising on the Site; (5) to contact you with information and promotional materials from our company as well as from our subsidiaries, affiliates, marketing partners, advertisers and other third parties; (6) to contact you when necessary; (7) to review the usage and operations of our Site and services; (8) to address problems with the Site, our business or our products and services; and (9) to protect the security or integrity of the Site and our business. We may also use your information as described to you at the point of collection, with your opt-in or opt-out consent. If you would like to restrict the use of your personal information for marketing purposes, you may the unsubscribe function included in every marketing email.
- We use and disclose your credit card information only to process payments and prevent fraud.
- Windstream may use your CPNI to offer you additional services of the type you already purchase from Windstream. We may also use your CPNI to offer you other Windstream products and services, packages, discounts and promotions, which may be different from the types of services you already purchase. If you would like to restrict the use of your CPNI for the marketing of certain products and services, you may contact us my phone or in writing. When making such a request, please be sure to reference the customer name as shown in the billing invoice, the account number(s) you wish restricted and the billing address(es) associated with the account(s) in question. Restricting use will not eliminate all Windstream marketing contacts.
- Subject to any legal restrictions on our use of CPNI and your instructions to us, Windstream may disclose the information we collect from and about you as follows: (1) to our affiliates, business partners, agents and Service Providers, if the disclosure will enable them to perform a business, professional or technical support function for us; (2) as necessary if we believe that there has been a violation of the Windstream Acceptable Use Policy, Site Terms of Use or of our rights or the rights of any third party; (3) to respond to judicial process and provide information to law enforcement agencies or in connection with an investigation on matters related to public safety, as permitted by law, or otherwise as required by law; and (4) as described to you at the point of collection, with your opt-in or opt-out consent. In addition, in the event that Windstream or substantially all of its assets are acquired, your information may be one of the transferred assets. We will provide notice before personal information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
- Windstream does not disclose CPNI to third parties without customer econsent except as required or allowed by law. When Windstream uses Service Providers that require the use of CPNI, Windstream requires that such Service Providers protect CPNI consistent with this privacy policy. Windstream does not sell CPNI to unaffiliated third parties.
PUBLIC FORUMS
Any information you may disclose in our Member Directory, or other public areas of the Site, becomes public information. Please exercise caution when disclosing personal information in these public areas.
JOINT MARKETING
From time to time, Windstream and a partner may jointly promote services. In these situations, Windstream may provide the partner with certain personal information (such as the name, address and user name of customers who subscribed to the service as a result of the joint promotion), for the exclusive purpose of implementing the promotion and allowing Windstream and its partner to assess the results of the promotion. The partner may not use the information for any other purpose.
GOOGLE GMAIL
If Windstream is your Internet service provider, then your email may be provided by Google. Your use of the Google GMail service is subject to both this Privacy Policy and the GMail privacy policy, available at http://mail.google.com/mail/help/intl/en/privacy.html.
LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES
The Site may have links to third-party websites, which may have privacy policies that differ from our own. We are not responsible for the practices of such sites.
OUR COMMITMENT TO CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Protecting children’s privacy is important to us. We do not direct the Site to, nor do we knowingly collect any personal information from, children under the age of thirteen.
