Required 10-Digit Dialing Configuration for IP Simple Phones

To make dialing 988 to reach the Lifeline a reality, 10-digit (1+ 10-digits in CA and parts of IL) dialing of local calls must first be implemented in territories where 988 is in use as an Exchange or NXX (i.e., XXX-988-XXXX) and 10-digit dialing is not already in effect.

If you are an IP Simple Voice service customer, there is a very important step you must take with Kinetic Business prior to October 24, 2021, to get your IP Simple phone system updated to accommodate 10-digit dialing.
Please contact us at your earliest convenience to configure your phones for 10-digit dialing or to determine if the territory in which you reside is impacted. You can reach us at 800-881-4118 or [email protected]. We recommend that the updates be made as soon as possible.
Without this update, between October 24, 2021 – July 15, 2022, callers dialing 988-XXXX will receive a message informing them that the call cannot be completed as dialed and that they must redial using 10-digits (1+ 10-digits in CA and parts of IL). Beginning July 16, 2022, without the update callers dialing 988-XXXX, will be connected directly to the National Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Crisis Lifeline.

If you are in a territory where 988 is not in use as an Exchange or NXX or 10-digit (1+ 10-digits in CA and parts of IL) dialing of local calls has already been implemented, there is no further action required other than to spread the news about the new suicide prevention hotline to family, friends and colleagues.
